We are truly honoured for our gins to be so widely recognised at the biggest competitions in the world, and especially receiving such a great award as the overall world wide Boutique Distiller of the Year. A great recognition of our small scale distillery crafting gin with artisanal passion in the heart of Northern Sweden.
It all started in 1999 when Jon Hillgren worked as a bartender in London and discovered gin. During the years that followed the discovery evolved into an interest in gin crafting. After about a hundred tasted gins, academic studies and technical visit at distilleries around the world Jon finally founded Hernö Gin Distillery in 2011, Sweden’s first dedicated gin distillery and at the time the worlds northernmost. The distillery is build in the village of Dala just outside the City of Härnösand in Ångermanland, Sweden. All part of the UNESCO world heritage area called The High Coast. The distillery is built in a traditional Swedish manor in wood painted in red and white.
Hernö Gin is available in 15 markets in Europe and in Hong Kong and Singapore.
